バカラ／Baccarat

バカラはクリスタルの代名詞とも言われる、18世紀半ばにフランスで生まれたガラスメーカーです。高い透明度と繊細なカット、緻密なバランスによって王者の重厚感すら漂わせる作品の輝きは、人々の日常を特別なものへと変え、時代と場所を超えて愛されてきました。

1764年、戦争で衰えた経済を復興するため、ルイ15世の勅許を得て、ロレーヌ地方にあるバカラ村にガラスの製造工場が創設されることになりました。これが、バカラの始まりです。倒産や買収の危機に何度もさらされつつも工場は発展を遂げ、1855年の第2回パリ万国博覧会で金賞を獲得して以降、その名を世界に広めていきました。初期には当時主流だったボヘミアンスタイルの技術が取り入れられており、その後はヨーロッパの往年の名作にも意匠を得たほか、20世紀の初め頃は香水瓶やペーパーウェイトを生産するなど、時代の流行や変遷に対して常に鋭く、柔軟なアプローチを図りました。中でも、「アルクール」をはじめとするテーブルグラスの定評は高く、他の追随を許しません。

250年に及ぶ歴史の中で継承され、磨きあげられてきた技術を、成形から完成に至るまで細やかに駆使し、クリスタルが持つ無限の可能性と至高の美しさを今なお創造し続けています。

Baccarat is a glass manufacturer that is often referred to as the synonym of crystal. It was born in France in the mid-18th century. The brilliance of its works, characterized by high transparency, delicate cuts, and intricate balance, exudes a sense of regal grandeur, transforming people’s everyday lives into something extraordinary. It has been loved across time and space.

In 1764, in order to revitalize the weakened economy after the war, a glass manufacturing factory was established in the village of Baccarat in the Lorraine region, with the permission of Louis XV. This marked the beginning of Baccarat. Despite facing bankruptcy and acquisition crises multiple times, the factory continued to prosper. Since winning the gold medal at the 1855 Paris Universal Exposition, it has spread its name worldwide. In the early days, it incorporated the techniques of the popular Bohemian style of the time. It later found inspiration in the classic masterpieces of Europe, and in the early 20th century, it produced perfume bottles and paperweights, always adopting a sharp and flexible approach in response to the trends and changes of the era. Among them, its reputation for table glass, including “Arcoroc” is highly esteemed and unmatched by others.

Over its 250-year history, Baccarat has inherited and refined its craftsmanship, utilizing it meticulously from shaping to completion, continuously creating the infinite possibilities and sublime beauty that crystal possesses.
