見附正康／Mitsuke Masayasu

見附正康は、九谷焼の伝統的な技法の一つである赤絵細描（あかえさいびょう）の第一人者として知られる陶芸家です。緻密な技術によって描き出される流麗な文様は、伝統の継承を感じさせると同時に、作品を古典的な枠組みから解放して未来へとつなげていく才気と革新に満ちています。

見附は1975年、九谷焼の生産地である石川県加賀市に生まれ、幼少期から絵や書道に親しみます。父の勧めで石川県立九谷焼技術研修所に進むと、基礎的な技術を学ぶ中で、赤絵細描を復興させた福島武山（ふくしまぶざん）と出会います。赤絵細描の魅力に惹きつけられた見附は、1997年に同研修所を卒業後、福島の外弟子として10年間修業し、そこで身につけた技巧を駆使しながら、独自の作風を確立させていきます。

花鳥風月や小紋、人物画などの古典的な文様が主流とされる中、見附はモスクのドーム天井やアラベスクを彷彿とさせる幾何学模様を細やかに絵付けし、これまでにないモダンで洗練されたデザインを作りあげました。また、艶を抑えた赤い線と、アクセントとして施された青や金の色彩は、繊細かつ大胆に白磁を彩りながら、現代的な佇まいに独特の品格を漂わせます。

Masayasu Mitsuke is a ceramic artist known as a master of the traditional technique of “Akae Saibyō” (red-painted fine-line drawing) in Kutani-yaki. His graceful patterns, intricately crafted through precise techniques, evoke a sense of tradition while also showcasing a talent for innovation that frees his works from classical frameworks and connects them to the future.

Born in 1975 in Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture, the production area of Kutani-yaki, he developed an interest in painting and calligraphy during his childhood. Following his father’s advice, he enrolled in the Ishikawa Prefectural Kutani-yaki Technical Training Institute, where he encountered Buzan Fukushima, a potter who revived the Akae Saibyō technique. Captivated by the charm of Akae Saibyō, he graduated from the institute in 1997 and then spent ten years as an apprentice under Fukushima. During this period, he honed his skills and established his distinctive artistic style.

While traditional patterns like flowers, birds, wind, and the moon, as well as komon (small repeated patterns), and portraits were predominant, he delicately applied geometric patterns reminiscent of mosque dome ceilings and arabesque, creating unique and modern designs. Moreover, the subdued red lines and accents of blue and gold colors on the porcelain display a delicate yet bold ornamentation, exuding a distinctive elegance in its contemporary allure.
